A quiet midweek meeting at Fontwell tomorrow , which with all the rain around will be run on extremely testing conditions, and it may well be save the best for last.
Sporting Milan (left) is a 4yo gelding by Milan out of an unraced Supreme Leader mare so he is likely to stay very well, as his full brother Themilanhorse did.
On his debut in an Irish point at Inch back in April he finished second to Unravelthemystery by 3 lengths, that race was over 3 miles on soft ground and he stayed on taking second on the run in.
Since that run he has changed hands for the princely sum of £50,000 and moved to Oliver Sherwoods and he is a horse that might be worth keeping an eye on for the future.
Favourite for the race tomorrow is Champagne George, who has run over the course and distance before, finishing around 5 lengths fourth to Clondaw Cian. He started a big price that day but the form looks reasonable with the winner having finished runner up behind the promising Copper Kay of Philip Hobbs the time before. Champagne George also hails from the Irish point scene where he ran three times finishing second on his debut before failing to complete the next twice.
Its a trappy little contest to finish the card, but a race of intrigue.
