Long Walk Hurdle 2014
The Long Walk hurdle is a Grade 1 3m hurdle for stayers, and year on year it sees the elite of that division take each other on.
Multiple winners of the race are not uncommon with Big Bucks taking the race three times, and this year saw Reve De Sivola land the hat trick (even if for most of the last mile it seemed highly unlikely).
The rest of the card was packed with horses of great potential, with the likes of Carruthers half brother Flintham doggedly repelling all raiders with a dour staying performance in the first race, Irish Saint showing his touch of class breaking the heart of the fortunate Puffin Billy who took a purler at the last, and arguably the most exciting of them all The Young Master.
Subject of controversy earlier in the season at Wincanton winning the Badger Ales Chase when he wasnt eligible for the race, The Young Master put that memory to rest in no uncertain terms in the Mappin and Webb Silver Cup with an authorative victory which has set him up for a possible crack at the Festival in March.
