Kompany too Kool for his rivals in Craven
This seasons Craven Stakes for me was missing something, and that was a main protagonist for the Guineas itself...
The classiest horse in the race was the 14/1 outsider Kool Kompany, a flashy horse with a big white blaze he had won a group two as a two year old. This partly contributed to the price as he was trying to give 3lb to his rivals.
Setting off in his usual front running role it was clear from some way out he had this race won and Richard Hughes was afforded the luxury of easing up close to home for an ultimatley comfortable success.
It didnt however smack as a Guineas winning performance, then again nor did Night of Thunder last season and look what happened there !
You have to go back to Haafd to find the last horse to do the double of the Craven and the Guineas and the wait may go on this season.
